Wireless MAC Address Access List

You can control which wireless clients have access to the network through an access control list (ACL). The ACL identifies clients by their MAC addresses and specifies whether the security device allows or denies access for each address. The ACL settings apply globally to all SSIDs.

The ACL can operate in one of three access modes:

 To Configure the Access Mode

  1. Select one of the following:

Disabled - No MAC filtering: The security device does not restrict access to wireless clients based on their MAC addresses.

Enabled -  Allow all except entries with Deny: The security device allows access to all hosts except those marked with a Deny action.

Strict - Deny all, except entries with Allow: The security device denies access to all hosts except those marked with an Allow action.

  1. Click Change to save your configuration.

You can also change this mode in the General Wireless Settings page.

To Add a MAC Address to an Access List

  1. Add a MAC address that was learned by the security device or a new MAC address.

Select a learned MAC address: Select this option and a MAC address from the drop-down list. Entries appear in this list when a wireless client makes an association with the security device. The list is an ephemeral, dynamically changing display of all currently associated wireless clients, regardless of the BSS to which they belong.

Input a new MAC address: Select this option and specify the MAC address of the wireless client you are adding to the ACL.

Control Status: Select Allow to add the MAC address to the list of allowed MAC addresses. Select Deny to add the MAC address to the list of denied MAC addresses.

  1. Click Add to add the MAC address to the access list.

 Viewing MAC Addresses

The MAC address table contains the following information:

MAC Address: List of MAC addresses that you added to the access control list.

Control Status: Indicates whether the MAC address is allowed to access the security device.

Configure: Click Remove to delete a MAC address from the list.
