Virtual IP Address Service Configuration

You can configure up to 64 services per Virtual IP. Because you can only map one service at a time, you need to configure one service at a time.

To Add VIP Services

  1. Enter the necessary information:

Virtual IP: Select a virtual IP from the drop-down menu.

Virtual Port: Enter the port that the service is mapped to on the outside server. You can use the standard (well-known) port number for the service or you can specify a registered port number (from 1024 to 65,535). If you specify a non-standard (registered) port number, you may need to re-configure the server.

Map to Service: Select a service from the drop-down menu for the server generating the connection. Available services include those with a fixed port and user-defined custom services.

Map to IP: Enter the IP address of the inside server (on the network in the Trust or DMZ zone) processing the requests.

Server Auto Detection: Select this option to have the NetScreen device periodically check to see if the server is available. Traffic is forwarded only if the server is active.

  1. Click OK to save your configuration.
