Import Rule Configuration

You can configure conditions or rules that determine which routes the current virtual routing instance receives or imports from another router exporting the routes. A rule is essentially a series of conditions set to indicate whether the current routing instance allows the routes to be forwarded or blocks them. Before you can configure an import rule, you must configure at least one route map first. Import rules use route maps to filter the imported routes.

To Create a New Import Rule

  1. Enter the necessary information:

Source Virtual Router: From the drop-down list, select the name of the virtual router sending the routes for importation.

Destination Virtual Router: A read-only string that is the name of the virtual router receiving the route information.

Route Map: The name of the route map applied to routes considered for importing.

Protocol: The routing protocol of the virtual routing instance exporting the routes.  The setting can be OSPF, BGP, RIP, connected, imported, or static.

  1. Click OK to save the configuration.
