RIP Summary IP

You can configure a summary route that encompasses a range of route prefixes that are advertised by RIP. The NetScreen device then advertises only one route that corresponds to a summary range instead of advertising all of the routes that fall within the summary range. This can reduce the number of route entries sent in RIP updates and therefore reduce the number of entries that RIP neighbors need to store in their routing tables. You enable route summarization on the RIP interface on which routing updates are sent.

The Virtual Router (RIP) - Summary IP page displays the following fields:

Summary IP: Specifies the IP address for the summary route.

Netmask: Specifies the netmask for the summary route.

Metric: Specifies the metric for the summary route.

Action: Click Add to add the rule. After you add a rule, you can click Remove to delete the rule.
