BGP Redistribution Rules

BGP redistribution rules specify the conditions by which the current BGP routing instance determines whether to forward or deny packets originated from a device using another protocol. Before you can configure a rule, you must configure a route map. (For more information, see Route Map Configuration.)

  To Create Redistribution Rules

  1. Enter the necessary information:

Route Map: From the drop-down list, select a route map. The route map you select determines whether the current BGP routing instance should forward or deny incoming packets from a router using another protocol.

Protocol: From the drop-down list, select the protocol by which the route map determines whether to forward or deny an incoming packet.

ospf: Specifies that the route map performs an action only on Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routes in the subnetwork.

rip: Specifies that the route map performs an action only on Routing Information Protocol (RIP) routes in the subnetwork.

connected: Specifies that the route map performs an action only on routes sent from a router that has at least one interface with an IP address assigned to it.

imported: Specifies that the route map performs an action only on redistributed routes in the subnetwork.

static: Specifies that the route map performs an action only on static routes in the subnetwork.

  1. Click Add to save the settings.

To Remove a Redistribution Rule

  1. Click Remove beside the redistribution rule that you want to delete.

A system message prompts you to confirm the removal.

  1. Click OK to confirm the removal, or Cancel to cancel it.
