To Establish a Peer with a
Remote DeviceThe Virtual Router (BGP) – Neighbors page enables you to configure a peer or neighbor device to the current BGP routing instance. The Virtual Router (BGP) – Neighbors page displays the following fields:
AS Number: A value that identifies the autonomous system in which the peer routing instance resides.
Remote IP: The IP address of the device that you want to establish as a peer to the current BGP virtual routing instance.
Local IP/Netmask: Displays the local IP address of an EBGP multi-hop peer.
Peer Group: If you have configured a peer group, you can add this peer to the peer group.
Outgoing Interface: The outbound interface to which BGP is bound.
wt: Displays the priority value or weight set for the peer device.
Conn ID: Displays the ID of the connection between the peer and the current BGP routing instance.
Status: Displays whether the connection is disabled or enabled. The default status of the connection is disabled. You must manually enable the connection.
State: Displays one of the six distinct connection states in which the current BGP routing instance and its peer resides.
Action: Contains the Add button that enables you to establish a peer connection with another routing instance.
To Establish a Peer with a
Remote DeviceEnter the AS number of the AS in which you want the peer to the current BGP routing instance to reside in the AS Number box.
Enter the IP address of the remote device with which you want the current BGP routing instance to establish a peer relationship.
Click Add to save the settings.
The AS number and the remote IP address appear in the list with Configure and Remove options. Click Configure to configure settings that indicate how the current BGP routing instance interacts with its BGP peer. See BGP Peer Configuration.
