The Traffic Log Report contains processing information for packets associated with selected policies. The Traffic Log Report contains two tables: the first describes the selected policy and the second displays processing information for each packet.
Note: You can view
the Traffic Log for a policy by clicking the Traffic Log icon "" in the View Details
column of the Policies Report or in the Options
column of the Policy List.
The policy table displays the following information:
ID: Indicates the policy number identifying the policy.
Source: Indicates the source zone and address name of the policy.
Destination: Indicates the destination zone and address name of the policy.
Service: Indicates the service associated with the policy.
Action: Indicates the action performed by the NetScreen device for packets with the associated policy.
The Traffic Log table displays the following information:
Date/Time: Indicates the date and time of the start of the session for the packet.
Source Address/Port: Indicates the source IP address and port number for the packet.
Destination Address/Port: Indicates the destination IP address and port number for the packet.
Translated Source Address/Port: Indicates the corresponding NetScreen-translated source IP address and port number for the packet.
Translated Destination Address/Port: Indicates the corresponding NetScreen-translated destination IP address and port number for the packet.
Service: Indicates the service associated with the packet.
Duration: Indicates the time in seconds between the start and end of the session for the packet.
Bytes Sent: The number of bytes transmitted from the source to the destination.
Bytes Received: The number of bytes transmitted from the destination to the source.
Select the number of log messages per page you want to view from the List per page drop-down menu.
Click Clear to clear all messages from the Traffic Log.
Click Refresh to update the Traffic Log with the most recent log messages.
You can save the log to your local hard drive or to a directory on your local area network for later view and analysis.
Click Save.
The File Download dialog box appears and prompts you to open the file or save it to your computer.
Click Save.
The Save As dialog box appears.
Navigate to the location where you want to save the file, and then click Save.
To view the file, you can use an ASCII text editor (such as NotePad or WordPad).
