Some security devices provide a standard method for transporting packets over point-to-point links; PPP encapsulation is defined in RFC 1661, The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). PPP links provide full-duplex, simultaneous, bidirectional operation and are a common solution for easy connection of a wide variety of hosts, bridges, and routers.
This table lists the PPP settings configured on the device and contains the following information:
PPP Profile: Indicates the name of a PPP profile.
Auth: Indicates the authentication type:
Password Authentication Protocol (PAP), as defined in RFC 1334, PPP Authentication Protocols
Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP), as defined in RFC 1994, PPP Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP)
Any: Negotiates any type of supported PPP authentication
None: Does no authentication during PPP
Netmask: Indicates the netmask of a PPP profile.
Static-IP: Indicates if the PPP profile is assigned a static-ip address.
Passive: Indicates the challenge state of the PPP profile.
Interface Bound: Indicates the interface to which the PPP profile is bound.
Configure: Click Edit to modify an existing configuration. Click Remove to remove a PPP profile.
To configure a PPP profile, click New. For more information, see PPP Configuration.
