RP Candidate List

A rendezvous point (RP) sends multicast packets for specific multicast groups. A PIM-SM domain is a group of PIM-SM routers that have the same RP-group mappings. In addition to static RP-group mappings, PIM-SM also provides a mechanism for dynamically mapping RPs to multicast groups. You can configure a virtual router (VR) as a candidate RP (C-RP) when you want to dynamically map RPs to multicast groups. You can create one C-RP for each zone.

The RP Candidate List page lists C-RPs configured on the NetScreen device. The table contains the following information about each C-RP:

Zone: The zone in which the C-RP is configured

Interface: The interface that is advertised as the C-RP

MGroup: The  access list that defines the multicast groups of the C-RP

Priority: The advertised C-RP priority

Hold Time: Specifies the holdtime advertised to the bootstrap router.

Proxy: Indicates whether proxy RP is enabled.

Configure: Click Edit to modify a C-RP, click Remove to delete a C-RP.
