Multicast Policies

By default, NetScreen devices do not permit multicast control traffic, such as IGMP or PIM messages, to cross NetScreen devices. To permit multicast control traffic between zones, you must configure a multicast policy. This page lists multicast policies configured on the NetScreen device. It displays the following information for each policy:

Source: The multicast group for which you want the NetScreen device to permit multicast control traffic.

Destination: The NetScreen device can translate a multicast group address in an internal zone to a different address on the outgoing interface. The translated multicast group address.

Messages: Indicates whether the multicast policy controls IGMP messages or PIM messages.

Bidirectional: Indicates whether the multicast policy applies to both directions of traffic.

Configure: Click Edit to modify the entry. Click Clone to copy a policy that you can use as the basis for a new policy. Click Remove to delete a policy.

Viewing Multicast Policies

To view all configured multicast policies, select All zones in the From and To drop-down lists.  To view the multicast policies for one specific zone to another, select the specific zones from the From and To drop-down lists. You can select how many multicast policies per page you want to view by selecting a number from the List per Page drop down box.

For more information on multicast policies, refer to the NetScreen Concepts & Examples ScreenOS Reference Guide available on the documentation CD that shipped with your NetScreen product and also on the Juniper Networks support site
