You can enable an interface to accept a configuration from a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol version 6 (DHCPv6) server. By default, the security device does not perform DHCPv6 client actions. DHCPv6 clients request the delegation of long-lived prefixes that they can push to individual local hosts.
To disable DHCPv6 settings, click None, then Apply.
To enable DHCPv6 client actions, perform the following steps:
Click DHCP Client to configure DHCPv6.
Select the DUID setting(s)
necessary for your network:
- Enable enables this feature.
- Send Rapid Commit is an optional
setting. If enabled, the client/server interaction requires two instead
of four messages.
Note: For more information about how rapid commit can affect
your network, refer to RFCs 3315 and 3633.
Select the types of Information
Requested from Server:
- DNS: This setting requests the Domain Name System (DNS) server
IP addresses.
- DNS search list: This setting requests a list of partial domain
names, which assist DNS searches by concatenating entered usernames to
the domain names.
- Delegated Prefix: This setting requests the IPv6 prefix that
the client uses to perform address autoconfiguration.
Enter the Device-Unique Identification (DUID) of the preferred DHCPv6 server in the Preferred Server (DUID) field.
To save your preferences, click Apply.
