The Get Tech feature enables Juniper Technical Assistance Center (JTAC) to effectively troubleshoot ScreenOS issues. This feature, available at the root level only, saves the complete configuration of your device to a text file.

Do the following to capture support-related data for your security device:

  1. Click the Get Tech button.
    The security device begins collecting data and prompts you to enter the location where you want to save the file.

  2. Specify the path where you want to save the file. You can save it to a local or a network drive. ScreenOS generates an event log with the username and the time the command was executed.

  3. Verify that the file was saved successfully by opening it within a text editor such as Notepad or Wordpad. The file contains the complete configuration of your security device.

  4. Attach the file to an email message and send it to JTAC for analysis.

Caution: Note that you are sending your device configuration over unencrypted email.

Note: The WebUI Get Tech button and the CLI get tech command produce the same output.
